TECHNOLOGIES The company uses state-of-the-art facilities to carry out molecular research for crop plant improvement. The molecular strategies used include genomics, proteomics, metabolomics and bioinformatics. Molecular work includes the use of RNA interference (RNAi) technology, under license from CSIRO. The Nobel Prize for 2006 was awarded to the developers of RNAi technology, based on work done on the model nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. RNAi is an exciting technology with many applications, which can be used to develop new traits and better properties in plants. NemGenix is using RNAi technology to develop novel resistance to nematodes in crop plants. Tissue culture and transgenic facilities are used to generate and test traits in transgenic plants.
